Terms & Conditions

Thank you for visiting our website. These terms and conditions are designed to promote understanding between us and our customers, and to protect the rights of each party. 1. Purchasing from the Music is Life website

Occasionally items ordered through the website are out of stock, or the specifications have been changed by the manufacturers. In each instance, we will contact you to let you know before shipping your order. We will make a full refund if any alternatives we propose do not meet with your satisfaction. We are only obliged to fulfil any order once payment has been received in full. Ownership of the goods only takes place once payment is received and delivery has been made.

2. Returns

Returns are only accepted on faulty goods. You are responsible for checking the product on delivery to ensure that no transport damage has occured and that the product is not defective in any way. No claims for returns will be accepted after 48 hours of the delivery time. To arrange a return, you must contact us to receive a returns authorisation number, which mus be included on a covering letter accompanying the returned goods. All accessories shipped with a product (cables, manuals etc) must be included with it in the original packaging. You are responsible for the safe return of any item to us, and we recommend that you insure the goods for their full value. Should items be lost or damaged on their way back to us you will then be able to reclaim the full amount. Refunds will be made only for defective goods, and in this instance any postage costs will also be refunded.

You are responsible for ensuring that any product you purchase from us is designed to work with your computer system and operating system.

3. Damaged or Defective goods

Items purchased by customers must be used only for their intended purpose. If upon inspection any item is found to have been used inappropriately and no manufacturing fault is discovered, we will return the item to you and charge you 20% of the selling price to cover expenses incurred in testing the product. Any product found to have failed under normal usage will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. Items under manufacturers warranty may be returned to the manufacturers for specialist repairs.

Second hand and ex demo goods are covered by a 3 month warranty period, whilst new items are covered by a one year warranty. Consumable items (strings, reeds etc) are not covered by any warranty. To confirm the warranty period on any product please contact a member of our staff directly.

4. Distance Selling regulations

Any order placed on our website may be cancelled within 7 days of the order being delivered. The returns procedure as outlined above must be observed, and notification of an intended return must be sent by writing (post or email). Telephone cancellations are not accepted. You are responsible for safe transit of the items to us, and insurance for the full value of the goods is recommended as we will not be responsible for any goods lost in transit. Refunds will not be made for the postage costs incurred, only the returned goods. We reserve the right to refuse refunds if the goods are not received in unused and saleable condition. No returns can be accepted on software, audio or video recordings unless the security seal is intact, unless the product is proven to be faulty.

We are not obliged to accept returns on unwanted or incompatible goods unless we are notified under the distance selling regulations as outlined above.

5. Payment and Security

All attempts are made to keep details of your order and payment secure. We use only the most secure servers and payment service providers. Unless it is proved that we have been negligent we cannot be help liable for any losses sustained by you as a result of unauthorised access to your data. None of your personal data is held on file by us after your order is fulfilled. We can only ship to the address where the payment card is registered. We will not ship to any other address.

All prices displayed and payments accepted are in Pounds Sterling only.

6. Delivery

Goods are dispatched within 24 hours of payment being received. We will notify you of any delays. Smaller items are often sent by Royal Mail, whereas larger items are sent by courier. You are responsible for ensuring that larger items will fit in the delivery destination. We will not be responsible for any items that do not fit where intended.

If an item has been sent by Royal Mail, we are unable to claim an item as missing until 21 days after the date of dispatch. Normally items will arrive within 5 days of dispatch but can take longer. We cannot be held liable for items that take slightly longer than the expected time. We will always have a dated proof of dispatch. Contact us to discuss guaranteed methods of delivery should your goods be required by a certain date.

7. General

We will not be liable to you for any claims which arise out of the supply of our products to you unless we are negligent but we will not be liable in any event for any consequential loss, except where this is required by law. We hereby exclude the application of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to each and every contract made under these Terms. These Terms cannot be altered or suspended, permanently or temporarily, without the written permission of a Partner of Music is Life. These conditions are subject to English law and the jurisdiction of the English courts.
